Class Teacher - Mrs Stone

A warm welcome to our Year 5 class page, we are looking forward to a fantastic year! 

Year 5 is taught by Mrs Stone with support from Mrs Kerfoot who works in our classroom every morning. On Tuesday afternoons Mrs Hayes teaches us ICT and PSHE and on Wednesday afternoons Mrs Marshall teaches us RE and Music. 

We are learning about some really exciting things this half term. Our class book is ‘Hidden Figures’ by Margot Lee Shetterly and we are going to be writing a non-chronological report on the events of the book alongside some other fantastic writing activities. In Maths our new topics this half term are multiplication and division and fractions so please make sure you are practising your times tables on times table rock stars!  

In the afternoons we are following the RISE curriculum and are learning all about the Benin Kingdom in History, Islamic Art in our Art lessons and Sustainability in Geography.  

Homework is given every half term and children are expected to read, practise their times tables and their practise spellings every day. Our PE day is Monday so please make sure you send your child to school in their PE kit on this day.
